  Bachelor of Information Technology (Hons) KPT/JPS (A1720) 11/11
 

It is fundamentally important to continuously produce graduate with deep technical skills in the field of computer science or information technology. The growing complexities in software development methodologies and high demanding computer network and internet technologies are among the reasons that the university has to equip the graduates with strong technical knowledge and skills. Bachelor of Information Technology is designed for this purpose and where students will complete 122 credit hours within 3-years. The programme includes core computer science courses such as Programming Principles and Techniques, Computer Organization and Architecture, Introduction to Information Systems, Multimedia Systems & Techniques, Object-Oriented Programming, Data Communications and Computer Networking, Information Security, Systems Analysis & Design, Operating Systems, Software Engineering and Software Project Management.

Apart from the course work, there will be two project papers that require students to apply programming and systems development skills and knowledge to develop IT products.

There will also be an industrial training component in this programme, which requires students to work on attachment in the IT industry in order to get exposure in the real working environment and work situations. Students are also exposed to business-based courses such as business communication and entrepreneurship.

This programme allows for entry into higher levels of IT education at postgraduate level. In addition, the Bachelor of Information Technology has been accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA / LAN) since 2001 and is recognised by the Public Service Department of Malaysia (JPA).

The programme is offered in dual mode which is conventional mode for full-time students and distance learning mode for part-time students (managed by College for Open Learning ).

 

  • Pass in STPM with 2 principles with credits in Mathematics at the SPM level: or

  • Pass matriculation, foundation or pre-university with CGPA achievement at least 2.0; or

  • Pass Diploma in related field at least CGPA 2.0; or

  • Other equivalent qualification recognised by the Malaysian Government.

English Proficiency Requirement

Malaysian Students

Students who enroll into UNIRAZAK Bachelor's Degree programmes must fulfill the following English proficiency requirements:

  • Students who have a credit in the English Language at the SPM/SPMV level are required to take additional English courses, depending on the level of proficiency.
  • Students who do not have a credit in the English Language at the SPM/SPMV level are required to undergo the Intensive English Programme.
  • Students who have a distinction in the English Language at the SPM/SPMV level are not required to take additional English courses.

Additional charges will be imposed based on the English placement level.

Intensive English Programme
 

International Students

International students who enrol into UNIRAZAK programmes must fulfil the following English proficiency requirements:

  • Undergraduate Programmes - TOEFL score of 450 or IELTS band of 4

The validity period for TOEFL and IELTS is two (2) years from the date of the award.

Without the qualification mentioned above, International students are required to register for and pass a special Intensive English Programme (IEP). This programme will incur additional charges.

This is a 3-year programme which requires a total of 111 credit hours.

Area of Specialisation

In the final year of their degree, students are given a choice of five areas of specialization, which are Information Science, Computer Networking, Multimedia, Medical Informatics or Computer Forensics.

Students may choose their majors themselves, or get it on advice from their lecturers or academic advisor.
