BUREAU FOR EXCELLENCE IN RESEARCH & TEACHING  
    Introductions
 
The primary objective of the Bureau For Excellence In Research & Teaching (BERT) is to chart further direction of University R&D, manage and take proactive action to achieve university's mission and vision. Amongst important strategies is to instill a strong research culture in the university in order to generate quality research output. The mission is accomplished by providing effective support and services to the research community in Universiti Tun Abdul Razak, ensuring quality research projects and facilitating internal as well as external collaboration to promote research excellence.
 
The major responsibilities of the department are:
  1.
To process, coordinate and manage all research grants received either through internal or external sources including grants received by individual staff of faculty/centre/school collectively. The Department also takes charge of issues regarding financial matters, management and administration of research funds as well as the processing of travel requests related to research grants.
  2.
To facilitate the collective management and administration of R&D resources and facilities, including the acquisition, control, monitoring and maintenance of related facilities and resources.
  3.
To support, document and monitor research activities to ensure that they comply with the rules and procedures imposed by the university and funding agencies, including the submission of progress and final reports.
  4.
To provide publications that project the character and values of the University and support the University's vision and mission.
  5.
To administer application and approval for attending international conferences (including seminar/ colloquium/forum/symposium)
  6.
To organize professorial lecture series, academic seminars and conferences.
