Sunny was brought up in a below-average socio-economic class family. Since he was a little boy, he had been wearing girl's dresses and displaying 'soft' mannerism. Since his primary school days, Sunny had never shown any interest in girls, and began to develop close relationships with male friends at a boarding school. He later began to hang around with other male friends from a gay group in town. Sunny then went to study at a college, and after graduation, he and his special male friend, Sam, had developed intimate relationship which became physical soon after. Finally, while he and Sam were watching the Ministry of Health's documentary on HIV in a hotel room, Sunny started worrying about his sexual activities and how it would affect the remaining years of his life.
