JustJati Sdn. Bhd., a bumiputra trading company, supplied products and services ranging from office equipment and fixtures, office equipment, stationery and also professional training courses for its clients. Its other core business was in construction. Most of the clients in both the construction and trading business were from the public sector and included such major government agencies and government link companies (GLCs) as Malaysian Airport Holding Berhad, Majlis Amanah Rakyat and Telekom Malaysia.
The case also presents a diversification strategy into the various business areas, even though the company lacked expertise and capabilities. The company also considered enhancing its use of information technology in linking to potential customers.
