Message from the President & Vice Chancellor

Welcome to Universiti Tun Abdul Razak and thank you for visiting our website. Whether you are a prospective or current student, alumni or possible business associate, I am pleased that you are taking this opportunity to learn more about the university. We are proud to be one of Malaysia's leading higher learning institutions and to have the distinctive honour of bearing the name of Malaysia's second Prime Minister, Tun Abdul Razak.

Tun Abdul Razak, who is known as Malaysia's 'Father of Development', was a man of vision. He was particularly concerned with national growth and rural development, and in 1971, he implemented the New Economic Policy (NEP), which sought to alleviate economic and social disparities. As a man of integrity, Tun Abdul Razak was said to value above all, ability, aptitude and commitment. He was also known to place great confidence in the leadership capabilities of our youth.

In embracing Tun Abdul Razak's foresight, the university has set about the challenging task of enriching young minds and developing character, confidence and determination. I am proud to say that Universiti Tun Abdul Razak has and continues to reach that goal, judging from the numerous achievements it has garnered in a relatively short period of time. The university first opened its doors in 1998 with a modest intake of 162 students in just 2 faculties. Today, 10 years later, we have well over 8,000 students, that also include 154 international students from over 20 countries.

Universiti Tun Abdul Razak's strategy for success has been to integrate academic excellence and intellectual reliability within a supportive environment, with flexible study options and ideal locations. We offer numerous undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, geared at developing professionalism and providing excellent employment prospects. Our team of educators consists of esteemed and dedicated academicians, who aptly convey their knowledge and experience for the benefit of our students.

Our Vision and Mission

In order to face the many challenges of globalisation and continuous technological advancement, Universiti Tun Abdul Razak has embraced competitiveness to sustain our position at both the national and international levels. Our new vision is ' to become a leading institution in providing quality education and human capital in niche areas or body of knowledge among emerging economies' and our new mission is 'to become the centre of excellence in fostering managerial leadership and entrepreneurship in the development of human capital through quality research, teaching and learning and professional services'. With the new vision and mission, we intend to enhance our collaborative networks through strategic alliances with top-ranking international universities, renowned in their respective fields.

Learning and Quality

Universiti Tun Abdul Razak's highest priority is excellence in education for all its students. As such, the university strives to offer the highest quality of campus-based undergraduate and postgraduate education in a broad range of fields. We place a high value on knowledge, supporting our beliefs with student-centred learning and utilising only the best resources. Our academic programmes are approved by the Malaysian Higher Education Ministry (MOHE) and are developed to meet the high standards required by the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA).

Future Direction

In 2007, Universiti Tun Abdul Razak made several changes towards improving the quality of management of the academic programmes and in the administration of the university. This is clearly illustrated by 10% increase in number of enrollment during the period of January 2007 to January 2008.

Among our latest ventures in 2008 is the first intake of students to the Bank Rakyat School of Entrepreneurship and the establishment of the Graduate School of Business and the School of Government. At the same time, preliminary work on the Tun Razak City Campus is well underway.

Universiti Tun Abdul Razak is a fast growing, internationally focused and financially sustainable institution, gearing its approach to new opportunities as they arise. Since its beginning, the university has always been clear and consistent in its direction, which is to provide a vibrant, intellectually-fulfilling environment for our students and to strive to contribute effectively to our contemporary Malaysian society.
